Written for Christians longing for clarity, renewal, and deeper spiritual grounding, this video series explores Paul’s sweeping vision of God’s purposes in Christ and the calling of the Church in the world today.  Participants will journey through all six chapters of Ephesians, tracing the natural flow of the letter from our being —our identity, worship, and life in Christ—to our doing —our mission, unity, holiness, love, and witness in the world. Along the way, the course highlights the central theme of being “in Christ,” a phrase repeated throughout the letter that anchors every aspect of Christian life and mission.  By the end of the course, participants will have gained a deeper understanding of the structure, themes, and theology of Ephesians; a renewed vision of the Church’s identity and purpose; and practical insight into how worship flows outward into faithful, everyday mission in their local context.

Sessions

In Christ: A Bigger Vision of Reality

In this first session, we explore the world of ancient Ephesus—a powerful city shaped by wealth, empire, and the worship of Artemis—and discover why Paul’s message about Jesus would have been so shocking and transformative. Through Paul’s sweeping opening prayer and “run-on sentence” of praise in Ephesians 1, we see that every spiritual blessing, identity, purpose, and hope is found not in the idols of culture, but “in Christ.” This session invites us to examine the modern idols of our own cities and lives, while recovering a larger vision of Jesus Christ as the true source of significance, unity, worship, and mission.

One New Humanity

In this session, we explore how the good news of Jesus tears down the “dividing walls of hostility” that separate people from God and from one another. Through Paul’s powerful vision of peace, adoption, and reconciliation, Ephesians 2 reveals that our deepest identity is no longer rooted in race, status, culture, or achievement, but in being citizens of God’s kingdom, members of his family, and living stones in his new temple. Set against the backdrop of ancient Ephesus and connected to the realities of modern multicultural cities like Vancouver, this chapter challenges the church to become a welcoming, diverse, Christ-centered community shaped by grace, hospitality, and unity.

Rooted in Love

In this session on Ephesians 3, we explore Paul’s powerful prayer that believers would be strengthened by the Spirit, rooted deeply in Christ’s love, and filled with the fullness of God. Using vivid images of trees, roots, and community, this teaching reflects on what it means for Christ to dwell in our hearts and how prayer, Scripture, and Christian fellowship help us grow through the storms of life. Join us as we discover how God’s love anchors and transforms us, empowering the church to live faithfully and courageously in the world today.

Walk Worthy

In this session on Ephesians 4, we reach the turning point of the letter as Paul moves from explaining who we are in Christ to how we are called to live. Together, we explore what it means to “walk worthy” through unity, spiritual maturity, holiness, and love, discovering how the church reflects the very oneness of the Triune God. Through practical teaching, vivid imagery, and Paul’s powerful metaphor of putting on new clothes, this session invites us to imitate Christ step by step in everyday life and relationships.

Walking in Love

In this session, we explore how Paul moves from right belief to right living, showing how Christian faith must shape not only our theology, but also our relationships and everyday actions. We’ll unpack the often-misunderstood passage on husbands and wives in Ephesians 5, discovering how mutual submission, sacrificial love, and the example of Christ transform marriage and all human relationships. Along the way, we’ll see how the Holy Spirit empowers us to live with humility, service, and love, so that our homes, churches, and communities become a witness to the Gospel.

Standing Firm

This final session on Ephesians 6 focuses on Paul’s call to “be strong in the Lord” and stand firm against spiritual forces of evil by putting on the full armour of God. It explains that spiritual warfare includes personal temptation, systemic injustice, and unseen spiritual realities, but the decisive victory has already been won through Christ. The message concludes that believers are equipped to stand not alone but together—strengthened by prayer, the Spirit, and the shared life of the church.
